Over the past year and a half, FPA has developed and implemented several sustainability initiatives dedicated to promoting a greater understanding of flexible packaging as a sustainable packaging solution.

Linthicum, Maryland. The meeting serves as a primary forum for interaction,
open discussion and networking among flexible packaging environmental and
safety professionals.

Last month, copies of the highly anticipated flexible packaging sustainability brochure were sent to all FPA members. This education and marketing brochure, entitled“Sustainability and Flexible Packaging: More Value. Less Waste,” communicates the benefits, sustainability and functionality of flexible packaging.

2008 FPA Board of Directors
The Flexible Packaging Association is pleased to announce its 2008 Board of Directors. In accordance with FPA bylaws, the executive vice chairperson of the previous year succeeds the chairperson at the end of the chairperson’s term. Directors are elected by FPA voting members through mail ballot. They are elected for a term of one year and assume their directorship at the FPA Annual Meeting.

Students Rise to the Challenge!
Awards for FPA’s
2008 Student Flexible Packaging Design Challenge were presented during the
2008 FPA Annual Meeting. California Polytechnic State University students
and team members Collin Gibbs, Teddy Phan, Alana Riparbelli and Andrew
Shrum received The Challenge first place award for their development of the
Flexible Shampoo & Conditioner Pouch.

Celebrating Innovation
Recently, the Flexible
Packaging Association announced the winning entries of the 52nd annual FPA
Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards. This year, 75 flexible packaging
entries and 99 competition category entries were received for the 2008
competition. Twenty-six flexible packaging entries were honored with a
total of 29 Achievement Awards. The awards were presented during the
Welcome & Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards Dinner, which was held
in conjunction with the 2008 FPA Annual Meeting.
