AET consolidates U.S. operations in Terre Haute; Ampac Flexibles expands pouch production capability

AET consolidates U.S. operations in Terre Haute
Applied Extrusion Technologies, one of the nation’s largest manufacturers of plastic film packaging products, announced it is consolidating its U.S. manufacturing operations in Terre Haute, Ind., creating 60 new jobs. The Delaware-based company is closing its Covington, VA, manufacturing facility and beginning a $9 million project that will expand its Terre Haute facility and relocate products and an idled Virginia line to the Indiana plant. AET, which makes oriented polypropylene films for industries ranging from food to gift wrap, has begun hiring equipment operators, engineers and technicians. The relocation will bring employment at the Terre Haute site to approximately 520 when the project is complete in 2010.

Ampac Flexibles expands pouch production capability
Ampac Flexibles, the flexible packaging division of Ampac Packaging LLC, announced the installation of a new Mamata pouching machine in its Cary, Ill., facility. Installation of the new Mamata Vega 610 has given Ampac’s Cary plant the ability to increase the range of pouches from simple 3-side seal flat pouches in limited sizes, to unlimited sizes without requiring new tooling. The Vega 610 also produces Doyen style stand-up pouches and plowed-in bottoms with zippers and tear notches.
