Corn Products International Inc., one of the largest corn refining and ingredient companies, announced April 7 that it had appointed Alcan Packaging executive Ilene Gordon chairperson, president and chief executive officer effective May 4.

Gordon, 55, has more than 30 years of senior-level management experience and has served as president and chief executive officer at Rio Tinto’s Alcan Packaging since 2007. She started her packaging career at Tenneco Inc. in 1982, then moved to Pechiney Plastic Packaging in 1999, becoming president and SVP of its parent, Pechiney Group. In 2003, Alcan bought Pechiney and, shortly thereafter, named Gordon president of Alcan Food Packaging Americas. She has served in various executive positions within Alcan since.

Effective May 2, Gordon will be succeeded by Jean-Christophe Deslarzes, currently (and remaining) the president and chief executive officer of Rio Tinto’s Downstream Aluminium unit. Deslarzes, with extensive knowledge on the packaging industry and the strategy of Alcan Packaging, previously served on Alcan’s senior-level management team in various human resources and engineered products capacities. Deslarzes will be based in Alcan Packaging’s Paris, France, headquarters.
