The upgraded Vario EC/PLC, a control package for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and retrofit applications, is targeted at any size single- or twin-screw extruder. The system uses a rugged 12.1-inch resistive touchscreen display, an integrated programmable logic controller (PLC) and a 400 megahertz (MHz) 674 megabyte (MB) processor specifically designed for extrusion. The controller includes proven control for water or air cooling, temperature control up to 64 loops, multiple pressure monitoring/control points and single or multiple drive control with synchronization. An Ethernet port allows for network communication and remote diagnostics.
