Mirel, a polyhydroxy alkanoate (PHA) produced from corn, biodegrades in a diverse range of environments, including soil, home compost, industrial compost, salt water and fresh water lakes, rivers and streams. Mirel features excellent heat resistance and can withstand temperatures as high as 266° F. (130° C.), making it appropriate for hot water and microwave end uses. The resin can be run on conventional extrusion lines with minimal modifications to a converter’s existing process.
