Nine-layer blown film line competes in barrier applications

By enabling the production of films with barrier material split into two or more layers, the COEXFlex line can produce films with increased barrier properties for the same amount of resin, while also improving thermoformability and low temperature resistance. The line features nine extruders: three modular COEXFlex platforms, each comprising three extruders mounted side-by-side set like wheel spokes around the die. High-torque gearless drive extruders enable the screw to be removed from the rear for easy maintenance. The die head combines features of the traditional spiral mandrel and more recent stack-plate (pancake) types, in a highly compact and particularly short format.
