Expopack sells Newmarket film business
Dynamic Solutions Unlimited LLC has bought Exopack Holding Corp.’s film business in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. Newmarket has been a supplier of high-quality single- and multi-layer polyethylene films to customers involved in package converting operations, form-fill-seal applications and shrink bundling. With its recent acquisition of the Whitby, Ontario, performance films production facility from DuPont LiquiBox, Exopack made the decision to sell its Newmarket business.
Flexo plate manufacturer seeks technical trial participants
The plate manufacturer PRPflexo is currently searching for flexo printers for additional trials of its new digital flexo plates. Participants will be asked to use the new plates (Digital ExSpect) on their presses to run existing work where comparisons are available.
Initial results have indicated that the Digital ExSpect plates outlast conventional digital plates by as much as 200%. They are also said to run cleaner for longer, reduce set-up times and have less dot gain than other plates tested.

Reynolds Flexible Packaging installs new flexo press
Reynolds Flexible Packaging has installed a new Windmoeller & Hoelscher Primaflex CM flexographic press at its plant in Downingtown, Pa. The W&H high-speed flexographic press provides gravure-comparable print quality on film, paper and laminated material. This new printing technology combined with recent digital plate-making technology will allow Reynolds to offer high-quality graphics with reduced set-up times and lower upfront plate costs.
Rohm and Haas launches operations in Mexico
Rohm and Haas has recently begun operations at its new high-technology plant in Querétaro, Mexico. The company’s goal with this investment is to develop a high-performance center of technology and services, by increasing its presence in Mexico, Andean Countries, Central America and the Caribbean. Company officials say they welcome this new production and distribution platform for its products, and hope to be able to offer more attention to customers in Latin America and Mexico.
