Web guide retrofit packages available in all-air

WEB GUIDE RETROFIT PACKAGES AVAILABLE IN ALL-AIR

All-air web guides can be installed to upgrade or replace underperforming or failing electronic or hydraulic web guides, saving both time and money. These all-air systems operate entirely on standard plant air of 3 to 6 PSI. Retrofits packages comes with a10-year warranty and include the controller, the all-air edge sensor, a two-stage air filter/air regulator assembly and pneumatic cylinder. Installation time is minimal without the need for electrical wiring or hydraulic plumbing. Pre-assembled all-air retrofit packages are also available for sideshifting unwind/rewind stands.

NEW COLOR CONCENTRATES FOR PLA RESINS MEET BIODEGRADABLE/RENEWABLE DEMAND

Color concentrates for use with polylactic acid (PLA) resins help manufacturers meet demand for packaging, bags, liners and other extruded or molded products that arebiodegradable and based on renewable resources. This new product line includes three series of colorants for use in clear or opaque bottles, film, sheet, profiles and injectionmolded items. The series differ in terms of their carrier resins, which areeither PLA or polyesters compatible with PLA, and thus readily blended with it. The PLA-carrier concentrates are for use in all biodegradable applications. The biodegradable copolyester-carrier concentrates have a petrochemical-carrier resin and are recommended for biodegradable blown film and other applications requiring greater flexibility than isprovided by 100%-PLA formulations.

The PlanetPak Packaging System provides environment friendly packaging of color and additive concentrates. The PlanetPak solution for transport and storage of materials offerssustainability and economic benefits over traditional steel-rimmed fiber drums. It contains no metal bands or supports, and is made from corrugated linerboard, which is produced from recycled materials and can be recycled itself. Its rectangular shape promotes easier and safer handling. Conversely, round drums are often rolled on edge tobe moved, a dangerous and injury-prone practice. PlanetPak packages fit corner-to-corner, edge-to-edge, which is more efficient during transport, storage and disposal than cylindrical fiber drums. Furthermore, once the contents have been consumed, the packageeasily flattens for recycling or disposal.

TUNGSTEN CARBIDE TOOLING EXTENDS DIE-CUTTING LIFE

Tungsten Carbide die cutting dies can extend service life 20 to 30 times thatof traditional Super CR materials or up to 200 million cuts. Tungsten Carbidedie designs are available in solid or segmented designs or with shells witha maximum length of 13.8 inches (350 millimeters) and a maximum diameterof 7.8 inches (200mm). One customer saw an increase from 10 million cutsto 156 million cuts-more than a 15- fold increase. This drastically reduces machine downtime and improves production costs. Dies and modules are designed to absorb vibrations and keep all relevant parameters to minimum variation for predictable die/anvil life cycles. They can be re-sharpened as often as regular dies.
