A new modular flat screen head web printing module, designed with an open architecture, integrates with any narrow web printing machine, including flexographic and digital. Flat screen printing technology is less parts-, labor- and time-intensive than traditional rotary screen printing for many applications. Flat screens can typically be made in about 60 minutes for fast prepress, and at an economical price. Printers can use this simpler, proven, servo-driven technology for high-speed and cost-effective lay down of inks and adhesives, thus opening up new markets. For example, flat screen printing can adequately lay down white inks for subsequent high-quality flexo printing. Or, in conjunction with digital printing, flat screen printing can be used to cover serialized numbers or other data used for gaming or anti-counterfeiting.
