Blown film gauge control system scans, adjusts quickly
May 1, 2009
The new D10 PROflat blown film gauge control system measures individual layer thicknesses. The device uses an automatic air ring with patented valve technology to redistribute the cooling air supplied to the air ring to make reliable film gauge corrections. The D10 PROflat system uses a flat scanning system that reads film thickness after the bubble has been collapsed; the scanner completes this scan in mere seconds, minimizing errors and subsequent scrap. Software takes into account the rotation of the primary nip’s randomizer to extrapolate the precise location at the air ring where the film passed through. Feedback signals generated by the software precisely adjust air flow adjustments to correct the gauge.
