Maxson Automatic’s web steering design for precision sheeters automatically centers the web to permit multiple pile work without wasteful edge trim. The system includes a sensing head, two parallel rolls on a common frame and pivoting carriage mounted within the web conditioning frame. The sensing head detects the edge of the web or a line and sends a signal to an electronic converter that pivots the carriage accordingly. The web then wraps around two balanced rolls mounted on the pivoting carriage, steering the web. Controls allow for automatic or manual operation.
