More than 200 converters and vendors were invited to attend a three-day open house event at Uteco North America’s headquarters in Kennesaw, Ga.

“This event was intended to show the U.S. marketplace that we have a broad array of products that are capable of meeting the manufacturing needs of every type of converting operation. During the open house, we ran our high-end Diamond HP 808 GL press. Built for high volumes, the press was demonstrated running a six-color job with two full coverages at 2,000 feet per minute,” says Mario Mucciacciaro, executive vice president of Uteco North America. “Fortunately, the press was sold during the open house to flexible packaging converter Lallypak of Hillside, New Jersey.”

North America looks toward launching a new automatic impression system in 2011 called Kiss and Go, as well as a new color matching system. In addition, Mucciacciaro stresses that the company will continue to focus on the environmental benefits of its presses including waste reduction, energy savings and environmentally-conscious inks such as wet flex EB and water-based inks.

Uteco currently has 2,340 presses installed worldwide, 70 percent of them CI flexo presses, and 350 of which are installed in North America.
