The goal of innovation and the development of more
sustainable printing unite three companies: Comexi Group, a specialist in the
manufacture of machinery for the flexible packaging converting industry, is
working with BASF and Wikoff Color Corporation in the development of its latest
innovations.
Comexi Group and BASF demonstrated the sector’s move towards solvent-free
printing with the Comexi Flexo F2 at drupa 2012. The company’s new press will
be adapting the latest water-based inks technology with BASF resins to
flexographic printing, thus offering enhanced sustainability and reduced cost,
yet maintaining a high level of print quality and printability. BASF also
presented its solutions for water-based printing inks, adhesives for lamination
and biodegradable packaging materials.
At drupa, Comexi and Wikoff Color Corporation exhibited a new printing
technology that uses solvent-free, low-migration inks for food-grade packaging
and perfectly compatible with the innovative offset printing system with a
central drum using EB offset inks. The Wikoff inks offer excellent print
properties and stable performance in food-grade packaging applications, with
outstanding adherence on various plastic films.
