Exopack, a leading producer
of flexible packaging products and engineered coatings, announced the closure
of its Symour, Ind., facility.
The plant manufactures consumer multiwall
flexible packaging products for Exopack.
After close rationalization
of current capacity for multiwall packaging, the company made the decision to
close the facility and consolidate its
consumer multiwall packaging operations into their plants in Spartanburg, S.C., Tifton, Ga., and Sibley, Iowa.
The final transition of
equipment and business from
to these three sites is scheduled for completion in 60 days.
“This decision was very
difficult to make and was only made after close examination of all possible
options,” says Chris Ragot, Exopack’s CEO. “The market for consumer multiwall
packaging is experiencing an excess in capacity. This consolidation will allow
Exopack to remain a competitive participant in this market.”
The closure of will result in
the elimination of more than 100 jobs at this facility.
