Grupo Lantero’s new, 7,000-square-meter plant in São Paulo, Brazil, is in operation, producing rigid plastic and flexible packaging in the same facility.
The Spanish converter said opening the plant is one of many steps in its “Horizon 2020” strategic plan, which is designed to make the company a solid player in the global plastic and food packaging markets.
Coexpan, the rigid plastic division of Grupo Lantero, has operated in Brazil since 1997. Now, Emsur, Grupo Lantero’s flexible packaging division, joins Coexpan there, employing a total of 67 people. The new facility, which can double in capacity for future needs, is equipped with technology including PS and PP extruded barrier sheets for FFS, rotogravure printing for labels and lids with hot melt application in line, and sleeve capabilities.
“Brazil is the first manufacturing site of Grupo Lantero that produces rigid plastic sheets and flexible products under the same roof, which will bring us all advantages and synergies to best attend our customers and support our global footprint,” said Daniel Richena, general manager Coexpan-Emsur Brazil.
Coexpan and Emsur products are sold in more than 65 around the world. Specifically, Coexpan serves the North and South American markets through its plants in Mexico, Brazil and Chile, while Emsur serves to the North American packaging sector through its factories in Chicago, New York and Mexico, as well as having capabilities in Argentina.
