Avery Dennison won the 2018 Sustainability Award for its new Sustainability Procurement Program at the Label Industry Global Awards ceremony, held during Labelexpo Americas in Rosemont, Illinois.
The Label Industry Global Awards, created in 2004 to celebrate innovation and excellence, are presented annually to recognize the impact of a specific sustainable product or process introduced in 2017 by a supplier/converter company.
Avery Dennison’s Sustainability Procurement Program is a collaborative evaluation platform that provides sustainability ratings and performance improvement tools for the company’s global supply chain. The program’s overall objective is to stimulate and engage suppliers in a continuous improvement process related to sustainability.
Avery Dennison engaged EcoVadis, a leading sustainability performance rating solutions provider, to operate the program. The platform delivers simple and reliable scorecards to monitor supplier best practices. A total of 21 internationally recognized sustainability criteria are reviewed and separated into four criteria themes: environment, social, ethics and supply chain.
“Avery Dennison is thrilled to receive this award for our Sustainability Procurement Program,” said Renae Kezar, senior director, global sustainability at Avery Dennison. “Many Avery Dennison associates have contributed their talent and effort in creating this unique and meaningful program. Thanks to our partner, EcoVadis, we have a straightforward method for discussion with our suppliers on the topics of social and environmental awareness, so that we can continue our company’s commitment sustainability.”
