Sonoco has announced the expansion of its environmental and social stewardship initiatives to include commitments to achieve greater packaging sustainability and recycling in support of the food industry’s efforts to reduce global food waste.
Robert C. Tiede has officially begun his tenure as the new president and CEO of Sonoco. Tiede replaces the retiring Jack Sanders, who served as president and CEO since 2013. Tiede will be the ninth CEO of the 119-year-old company.
Sonoco’s president and CEO, M. Jack Sanders, will retire on April 2, 2018, following a 30-year career with the company. Sonoco’s Board of Directors has named Robert C. Tiede, who currently serves as the company’s executive vice president and COO, as CEO-elect. Tiede will join the board of directors upon Sanders’ retirement.
Sonoco has officially completed its acquisition of Clear Lam Packaging, Inc. for approximately $170 million in cash. Sonoco signed a definitive agreement to acquire the business in June 2017.
